Poverty Alleviation in Puding County (China)
At 7:50 a.m. on August 25, 2018, an ordinary weekend, when most people were still sleeping, Yu Ziyang, the chairman of Meite curtain wall, was already sitting on the flight from Shanghai to Guiyang. The purpose is to visit a poor village, Huatian Town, Tianba Village. Although he is busy with work, Yu Dong always spares no effort and is willing to participate in charity projects.
Tianba Village Introduction:
A poor village in Huazhu Town, Puding County, Anshun City, Guizhou Province. Because it is located in a remote mountainous area, few people know its existence. The total number of households in the village is 817, with a population of 3,434, 65 with disabilities, and 11 retired village cadres, of which 138 are poor households, with a total of 451 people. The incidence of poverty is 10.6%. There are 7 households with 9 persons, 1800 acres of arable land, 0.4 acres of arable land per capita, more than 2,000 acres of woods, and a forest coverage rate of 34%. They belong to the county's three types of poor villages. Of course, such numbers do not bring intuitive feelings to us living in big cities. Then let ’s follow Yu Dong ’s footsteps and take a look at the true face of the village.
At 10:40, the plane arrived at Guiyang Airport. With the help of local caring entrepreneurs, we boarded a car bound for Anshun. Driving all the way in the rolling hills and mountains, blowing the cool breeze, the fatigue caused by three hours of flying at this moment suddenly relieved a lot. The village is near the top of the mountain. Our three vehicles circled along the mountain road. The road was very narrow. The more people there were, the more rare the people were. I saw villagers and horse-drawn carriages going down the mountain. According to locals, the road leading to the mountain was built by caring entrepreneurs and the government together in recent years. Previously, down the mountain was on two feet, and bicycles were impassable. Under the care of the government and kind people, the mountain road was opened, and the village was also supplied with hydropower. The living environment has been greatly improved. There is a primary school in the village with a total of two floors. Its exterior has been damaged. With the help of the government, the desks and chairs have been completely renewed. The high ground of the playground has also been donated by fences by caring entrepreneurs to protect the safety of students.
At about 15:00, we arrived at the village committee. After a brief introduction, in order to save time, we went to visit the village's primary school under the leadership of the village party secretary, and then visited the seven poor households who had read the information in advance.
(1) Wang Mingying, who has been ill all year round, and her husband died. She worked odd jobs for three children and supported her 80-year-old mother-in-law. The oldest child was a sophomore, and the other two were a junior sophomore. Living in old tears, because the main labor is lost, the family life is very poor.
(2) Ren Yunjun, a veteran of resistance to the United States and the DPRK. His son died of leukemia five years ago, leaving five young children. The oldest was the second year of the first year, the youngest was only five years old. The daughter-in-law has left the village, no news, no family Life depends on the subsidies of the war veterans and the rural minimum living allowances. When we got home, the old man was sitting in a chair because of a foot injury and looked around. The family was surrounded by walls, which made everyone bitter.
(3) Ren Weixing, his father died, and his mother went out to work and there was no news. At present, the three siblings rely on their brother Ren Xiaoxiang to drop out of school to work and earn a living. Sister studied at Nanjing Medical University, Ren Xiaoxiang gave up her reading opportunity for her sister and brother's life.
(4) Ren Qixin, hearing disability, wife's mental retardation, can simply take care of children. He has three children, all of whom are young, and his family depends on Ren Qixin to do hard labor and help his brother. The house was dilapidated without a decent piece of furniture. Although his wife is low in intelligence, the scene of taking care of her children with all her heart still left a deep impression on Yu Dong and everyone present.
(5) Sun Dingyi, his wife is disabled, working alone to support his father and wife and four children. The oldest child is in the second year of high school, and the youngest is in the second grade in the village primary school. At home, even the basic daily necessities were different. When I visited the kitchen, I saw a family dinner. It was just a pot of pumpkin porridge.
(6) Wang Xiaoyan, her parents divorced and followed her mother's life. The mother went out to work for many years, but her income was too low to support her family and tuition. Wang Xiaoyan is currently in her sophomore year, and usually needs to be supported by the elderly's minimum security.
The above six poor households are the targets of Yu Dong's confirmed donation. This time he personally donated 20,000 yuan to help children continue reading and basic living expenses. It is better to teach people to fish. The only way out is to get rid of poverty fundamentally so that children can have the opportunity to study and study. Yu Dong hopes to do his utmost to give more children the opportunity to learn, so as to truly change the fate of himself and his family.
After visiting these families, the moon did not know when it had quietly climbed up the mountain. The kind villagers sent us their own corn, but they refused to collect money. Standing at the top of the mountain, the beauty at this time made us intoxicated. The village became quieter under the moonlight. The cool night breeze made people feel refreshed. Yu Dong couldn't help picking up his mobile phone and taking pictures of the beautiful scenery, watching the rolling mountains Without the hustle and bustle of the city, you must not imagine that there are such a group of children and old people in the mountains. These left-behind children and old people may not have a chance to go out and look at the outside world in their lives. During the visit, the dirty little girl was wearing improper shoes, and her face was filled with innocent smiles. Mothers with intellectual disabilities carried their children and did their best to take care of other children. The young people who had received funding to go to college successfully talked with us All of these impressed us.
Farewell to the villagers and village cadres. Our car is slowly going down the mountain in the moonlight. There are three or two children going down the mountain with schoolbags on the road. Yes, it is close to school. There is only one elementary school in the village. The heavy package contained dry food prepared by the family and there was deep hope.
According to Mr. Ren, the accompanying caring entrepreneur, there are dozens of such poor villages in Puding County alone. The government has responded to the country ’s call and has been committed to poverty alleviation over the years. A large amount of funds, the local entrepreneur Mr. Wang Wei personally donated 6.5 million to improve the infrastructure of Tianba Village. Unfortunately, his capacity was limited after all. The "100 Enterprises to Help 100 Children" project in which Yu Dong participated was to help overcome poverty. , Initiated by Ms. Ren Qin, President of the County New Union, a corporate public welfare student-led activity led by Ruitai Real Estate Development Company, aimed at guiding 100 companies to help 100 poor students according to the level of family poverty each year 4000- 10,000 yuan until graduated from college. At present, eight enterprises have been successfully guided to finance a total of 111,500 yuan for 20 poor students.
Different from the previous form of donation, this time we participated in one-on-one donation. In the list of poor households provided, we visited and considered the actual situation. After screening, we confirmed the information and bank account with the village cadres, and directly entered the donation funds The account of the aided party shall be issued with a receipt and signed by the payee. Donors can keep in direct contact with recipients, taking into account their family conditions and learning progress, they can make one-time donations or keep annual donations. In this list of 7 households provided by Yu Dong this time, six households were selected for donation, mainly to aid schooling and improve the living conditions of basic families. I hope that their kindness will make them grateful to the society, learn and help more people in the future, and give back to the society and everyone's love.
Poverty does not change with the aid of money alone. Endless material support will only make people inert and lose their will. Fundamentally changing poverty, so that more children have the opportunity to go to school, learn a skill, and create a happy future with their own hands. Here, we call on everyone to lend a helping hand and gather everyone's strength to help them succeed in school as soon as possible and give back to society. 200-300 yuan may just be our meal and a toy, which is enough for one month's living expenses of these poor households. We are eager for more kind people to join the charity team. Everyone picks up firewood and works hard to improve the current appearance. In China, there are actually hundreds of such Tianba villages. We who live and work in metropolises cannot see their hardships unless we see them in person. When we are already enjoying life, they are still trying to find a way to survive. The difference between life and survival is two very different lives.
